Meet the Doctors

Jason Ching, D.D.S (Pediatric Dentist)

Born and raised in Honolulu and a graduate of Punahou school, Dr. Jason Ching pursued his dream to be a student athlete at Brown University, followed by dental training at the University of Pacific, and certification in pediatric dentistry at Tufts University. Dr. Jason and his highly skilled team at Oahu Pediatric Dentistry believe in providing safe and comfortable clinical experiences.

Dr. Jason is one of the few pediatric dentists in Hawaii who are trained in the first FDA-approved hard/soft tissue Solea dental laser. Utilizing the Solea dental laser eliminates the need for anesthetic shots, and the use of a drill for children with severe dental anxiety. Combined with his specialized training in laser soft tissue surgery, Dr. Jason treats congenital abnormalities such as Lip Tie and Tongue Tie to help children with impaired breastfeeding as well as compromised speech.

Cody Sia, D.M.D. (Pediatric Dentist)

Dr. Cody Sia was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii. He attended the University of San Francisco for undergraduate, attended the Case Western Reserve University for Dental School and completed his residency at the NYU Langone Health Hawaii site to find his way at Oahu Pediatric Dentistry. Cody was on the Dean’s List, graduated Cum Laude and received the Certificate of Merit AAPD Predoctoral Student Award. Cody’s priority is ensuring every visit is filled with comfort and complete care for both the patient and their guardians.

Jordan Takaki, D.M.D. (General Dentist)

Dr. Jordan Takaki was born and raised in Hawaiʻi, though he also spent a great deal of his life in the Pacific Northwest. He studied chemistry at Whitman College before getting his B.A. from the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa and his DMD from Oregon Health and Science University. Dr. Jordan Takaki treats our older patients (from adolescence on).

"I'm a difficult patient. I am fully white-knuckling the chair… it's a challenging experience for me too, so I try to be cognizant of that when delivering care."

Tanya Karnavy, D.D.S. (Pediatric Dentist)

Trained in both general and pediatric dentistry, Dr. Tanya Karnavy began her career in Colorado, working both at private practices and as the chair and director for the nonprofit Dental Aid (the first of only three nonprofit dental clinics in the U.S.). After ten years of service, Dr. Tanya Karnavy saw a need and returned to Hawai'i, passionate about providing the same level of care that she was able to offer to her patients on the mainland.

In addition to her work at OPD, she is on the NYU faculty and chairs a subcommittee, teaching pediatric residents in leadership education in neurodevelopmental disabilities and special health care needs. She's also on the board for the Oral Health Coalition. Still, she says the awards that mean the most to her are the drawings she receives from kids after their visits. If she’s not in the office, you can find her out surfing.
